We always make a point to try something new whenever we eat out. On one of those times we came across Laurel Point in one of our searches. The 3 ½ star Yelp review was not encouraging but we went anyways, with an open mind.
We immediately liked the nautical theme from the ambiance, the interiors, the furniture to the tableware.
We came during lunch and we liked what we ordered. We had deviled eggs and crab cakes to start. Both were flavorful and delicious. The linguine and clams was memorable. The pasta was cooked just right, sauce’s consistency is not watery or diluted and it wasn’t super oily either. It was very tasty and I have to say I finished the whole thing which seldom happens particularly if there’s appetizers involved. The fish tacos were really good. The fish itself wasn’t soggy, it retained its crispness. A win. Not pictured is the fish and chips served with remoulade sauce which was very good as well.
We liked it enough to come back for my children’s culmination and graduation dinner with family. We had oysters, shrimps and calamari which are all good. The cast iron mussels were exceptionally good. You need bread to soak the sauce in. Our guests ordered a variety of items on the dinner menu and everyone was happy and satisfied. I was, however, underwhelmed by the John Dory. It was bland, lacked flavor. Would that deter me from coming back? Not really. The oysters and mussels alone would make me come back.
